NEW HAVEN, Conn. – For the sixth time this season, first-year forward Camilla Emsbo (Lakewood, Colo.) of the Yale women's basketball team has been named Ivy League Rookie of the Week. The league announced the award, which Emsbo shared with Columbia's Sienna Durr, on Monday.
Emsbo scored 17 points -- her third-highest total of the season -- in Friday's 69-61 win vs. Columbia at Lee Amphitheater, then added six points vs. Dartmouth Saturday. She totaled 14 rebounds and three blocks for the weekend, including eight rebounds vs. the Lions.
Emsbo also earned the Rookie of the Week honor for the weeks of Nov. 5, Dec. 3, Dec. 10, Jan. 14 and Jan. 28. No other Ivy League player has earned the award more than five times. She is third in the league in rebounds per game (8.6) and blocks per game (1.8). She is second on the team in scoring (11.6 points per game). Defensively, the six-foot-five Emsbo has helped Yale hold its opponents to a .358 shooting percentage -- the second-best defense in the league.
Emsbo was a five-star ESPN recruit out of Lakewood High, and ESPN ranked her as the No. 34 best recruit in the country (sixth-best at her position). She was the Gatorade Player of the Year for Colorado.
Emsbo is in Branford College at Yale. Her identical twin sister, Kira, plays for Princeton.
Yale (15-8, 5-3 Ivy League) visits Dartmouth Friday at 7:00 p.m. (ESPN+).
