Susan hails from Rockville Maryland. She swims for Rockville-Montgomery Swim Club, under Christa Krukiel and Jim Williams. Susan has qualified and competed in four Junior Nationals championships, two US Open championships, and two Senior Nationals swim meets.

Susan was a four-year Varsity swimmer for Richard Montgomery High School. She was a three-time County champion in the 100 breastroke and competed on the winning 200 Medley Relay for four years. She also holds records for the 100 breaststroke and 200 medley relay for Montgomery County. She earned the MVP award her junior and senior years in high school, was selected as a three-time All-Gazette and All-County swimmer, and was team captain her senior year.

Susan's most memorable swimming moment came in her senior season with the Richard Montgomery Rockets, when she led the squad to their second county championships. On their way to victory, she broke her first individual county record and she was a part of the county-record breaking 4x100 Free relay.

Outside of swimming, Kim participated in the Student Government Association, serving as Class President for three years and as SGA President her senior year. She was also on the French Honor Society and National Honor Society. She also enjoys talking on her phone, relaxing with friends, shopping, and spending time with her family.

Susan chose Yale for the caliber of its academics and the close-knitswimming circle. She is undecided on her major.

Susan is the daughter of Yong Sok and Mee Suk Kim. Her brother, Ji-Heon, is a senior at Carnegie Mellon University..
