NEW HAVEN, Conn.- The Yale Women's tennis team kicks off the fall half of its 2018-19 campaign on Friday at home when the Bulldogs host the Bulldog Invitational. This year's tournament will draw seven conference and regional rivals: Boston College, Boston University, Brown, Cornell, Dartmouth, Harvard, and Massachusetts.

With a host of new faces, including first years Jessie Gong, Raissa Lou and Kathy Wang, sophomore transfer Caroline Dunleavy and assistant coach Trice Capra, this weekend will be a good opportunity for the Bulldogs to make a strong first impression with the majority of the Ivy League present.

Meanwhile, seniors Caroline Amos and Amy Yang will look to establish their presence as leaders. Yang, the Bulldogs' captain, had success at this event last year and will attempt to improve upon those results. Sophomore Samantha Martinelli comes into the season as the team's likely No. 1 player and will be an important player to watch this weekend as well.

Over the course of the three days, the Bulldogs will take on three of the eight participating teams. On Friday, they will face BU, whom they beat 5-2 last season. The next day, they will look for revenge against UMass, who they lost to 4-3 in March. And on Sunday, the team will close out its weekend against Ivy League rivals Brown; Yale came out on the wrong side of a 4-3 match against the Bears last season.
