Emma Golen joined the Yale women’s basketball staff as an assistant coach in September of 2018. In her second season with the Bulldogs she helped the team tie the school wins record (19).

Golen serves as a member of Yale Athletics' Employee Affinity Groups Subcommittee.

A native of Novi, Mich., Golen began her coaching career as a graduate assistant at Michigan while earning a master’s degree in sports management from 2013 to 2015. The Wolverines won 20 games in both of those seasons, advancing to the third round of the WNIT in 2014 and the WNIT semifinals in 2015.

Golen then spent the 2015-16 and 2016-17 seasons at UMass Lowell, serving as assistant coach and recruiting coordinator. She returned to Michigan last season as video coordinator, helping the Wolverines win 23 games -- including one in the first round of the NCAA Tournament.

Golen played forward for Harvard, earning the team’s most improved player award in 2011-12 and serving as team captain in 2012-13. She was second on the team in three-pointers as a junior and senior, shooting better than 40 percent from beyond the arc both seasons. The Crimson went 77-40 overall and 42-14 in the Ivy League during her career, playing in the WNIT three times and advancing to the second round twice.

A member of Harvard’s Student Athlete Advisory Committee, Golen earned a Bachelor of Arts in psychology in 2013. She is a graduate of Detroit Country Day School, where she was a Street & Smith’s Sporting News honorable mention selection in 2008 and 2009.
