Danielle Blanchard, who was part of seven national championship teams at Plattsburgh State, joined the Yale women’s hockey coaching staff as an assistant in June of 2019.
The 2019-20 Bulldogs set a program record for wins with 17, including a school-best six consecutive, while the team totals for assists (2nd), points (3rd) and goals (4th) all made the record book. That 17-15-0 team made the ECAC Hockey Tournament after finishing fifth with a school-record 13 conference wins. The Elis took their playoff series at Harvard to three games before falling in triple overtime in the finale.
The Newmarket, Ontario, native brought a decade of coaching experience as well as a decorated on-ice career to Yale as a two-time national champion and four-time All-American at Plattsburgh State from 2005-09.
As an assistant coach with Plattsburgh State, Blanchard helped lead the Cardinals to five NCAA Division III National Championships during her six-year tenure, which included a 164-11-5 overall record.
Blanchard was a member of the 2007 and 2008 national championship teams. In 2008, she earned the Laura Hurd Award as the top Division III women’s hockey player in the nation.
Before returning to her alma mater as an assistant coach in 2013, Blanchard worked as an instructor in numerous rinks and camps.
