Biography

Note: After battling cancer for more than two years, Yale women's ice hockey forward Mandi Schwartz '10 (1988-2011) passed away Apr. 3, 2011 at the age of 23. Yale holds an annual marrow donor registration drive for Be The Match® in her memory, hoping to find genetic matches for patients -- like Mandi -- whose lives can be saved with a marrow transplant. 2009-10: Returned to Yale on Jan. 8 after a year away from school battling leukemia ... relapsed in April 2010.

2008-09 (Junior): ECAC Hockey All-Academic ... One assist in 11 games ... Extended streak of consecutive games played to 73 before being diagnosed with leukemia in December ... Team held fundraiser in her honor in the spring, selling Yale Hockey "17" t-shirts, and also combined with Yale football team for a marrow donor drive.

2007-08 (Sophomore): ECAC Hockey All-Academic ... Third on team in assists with 10 ... Also had four goals and 14 points in 31 games, including 11 points in the last 18 games ... Had three assists in 5-0 win over Cornell ... ... Named best passer on the team in midseason survey.

2006-07 (Freshman): ECAC Hockey All-Academic ... Appeared in all 31 games, scoring five goals and adding eight assists ... Scored first collegiate goal in 3-1 win over Quinnipiac Nov. 4 ... Scored game-tying goal at Harvard in game two of the ECAC Hockey quarterfinals with 2:36 left.

Hockey Canada: Attended Team Canada U-22 conditioning camp in June 2006 ... Also attended U-22 Top 40 Camp in Ottawa in summer of 2006.

Before Yale: Won bronze medal with Team Saskatchewan at 2003 Canada Games ... Was captain and four-year letter winner at Athol Murray College of Notre Dame ... Hounds won Macs tournament twice and were three-time Western Canadian and Provincial Champions ... Also played volleyball and ran cross country.

Off the Ice: Member of Calhoun College ... Hobbies included speed swimming, hiking and cross country skiing ... Part of Adopt a Team program ... Brothers, Jaden and Rylan, both play hockey.
