Alex Mundy, a two-time All-American who was a part of fourstraight NCAA Tournament appearances at Vanderbilt, joined the Yalewomen’s lacrosse staff as an assistant coach in the fall of2011. She works with the Yale defense.
Mundy, a native of Ellicott City, Md., graduated from Vanderbiltin 2010 with a B.S. in economics and a B.S. in political science,minoring in managerial studies and corporate strategy. She was onVanderbilt’s dean’s list and made the SEC’sAcademic Honor Roll in 2007.
A defender, Mundy was a second team All-American in 2010 and athird-team All-American in 2009. In her senior season she was anominee for the Tewaaraton Trophy as the best player in collegelacrosse, and she was a first team All-ALC selection and ALCAll-Tournament selection. She captained the team to a 12-6 recordand an NCAA Tournament appearance. Mundy was also a first teamAll-ALC selection and ALC All-Tournament selection in her junioryear.
In addition to her work on the field at Vanderbilt, Mundy wasextremely active in the community. She was a National StudentRepresentative with the Student Athletic Association Committee,attending conferences and organizing community service activitiesas a representative of Vanderbilt’s women’s varsityathletic programs. She was student coordinator with the VanderbiltChildren’s Hospital Dance Marathon starting in 2007, servingas an escort/mentor for children in the hospital fashion show. Thatsame year she also began volunteering at the Nashville Food Bank, arole she continued through her senior year. In 2008 Mundy joinedthe team recruitment committee for the American Cancer SocietyRelay for Life fundraiser and also began working with localchildren with brain tumors.
In addition to playing for Vanderbilt, Mundy was also a finalistfor the U.S. National Team in August of 2009. After graduation, shewent to work for Insight Global in Burlington, Mass., where she wasa technical recruiter and an account manager. She has also workedfor numerous lacrosse clubs and camps.
Mundy, who was born in Baltimore, was a US Lacrosse and UnderArmour All-American while at Glenelg High School. She also earnedAcademic All-America honors there.
