Biography

Ortega was one of the Yale''s top offensive players throughout her career. As a senior, she earned honorable mention All-Ivy recognition after finishing tied for sixth on the team in scoring with six points (1 goal, 4 assists). Her one goal came in Yale''s 2-1 victory over Harvard. As a junior Ortega was third on the team in points (10) and goals (4). Three of her four goals were game-winners, including one in overtime in the regular season finale at Brown. As a sophomore, Ortega tied for second on the team in goals (3) and points (9). Against Georgetown, she tallied a goal and an assist. As a freshman, she tied for sixth in the Ivy League in goals with six and was named honorable mention All-Ivy. Her first career goal came against Sacred Heart, and she tallied a goal and an assist against Fairfield. Ortega earned first team All-CIF honors in both her junior and senior years at Mt. Carmel High School. As a senior she was named the MCHS Athletic Foundation Scholar-Athlete of the Year. In addition, Ortega played for the California ODP team for four years.
