Devan Currie, a squash professional at Squash Haven, began coaching at Yale in 2017.

Currie was raised in South Africa before moving to the U.S. He started in squash later than most competitive players and worked hard to rise through the ranks to compete with the best in his country. He was the No. 1 player at his high school and captained the team for two years.
 
As a junior, he was ranked in the top 20 in the country and top three in his province. He completed both his B. Com Under-Graduate and B. Com Honours Post-Graduate Degrees in Health Sciences, specializing in Sport Management at the University of Johannesburg. His majors were Human Movement Studies, Business Management and Industrial Psychology.
 
Currie also played on the university team that claimed its 7th straight national title in 2018. Prior to moving to the U.S., he was a head coach at various schools and was a squash professional at private clubs in South Africa, namely Parkview Squash Center.
 
His love for squash also led him to refereeing where he served as the chairperson for TechnicalOfficiating on the Central Gauteng Squash Committee, managed a portfolio on the Squash SA Refereeing Sub-Committee and was a member of the Squash South Africa Executive Committee.
 
Currie represented his province and was ranked among the top 20 in Central Gauteng as an adult.
 
He played in the competitive Central Gauteng League as a junior and adult before he moved to the U.S
