Biography
2021-22: Team captain... Second team All-Ivy selection in doubles with partner Chelsea Kung... Gong and Kung qualified for the ITA National Fall Championship in doubles... Academic All-Ivy selection.
2020-21: Season canceled due to pandemic.
2019-20: She and doubles partner Samantha Martinelli became the first Bulldogs to earn All-America honors… Duo won the ITA All-American title in the fall, becoming the first Ivy League women in either singles or doubles to win the event… Beat the Tennessee duo of Tenika McGiffin and Kaitlin Staines in the final, winning in thrilling fashion 2-6, 6-3, 10-8… Gong and Martinelli reached as high as No. 3 in the ITA national rankings… The two finished with a 20-5 doubles record… Duo posted impressive wins over teams from Auburn at the prestigious Blue Gray Classic and Florida Atlantic… The two went undefeated at the fall Michigan Invitational, including a 7-5 win over the Wolverine duo… Duo had an 11-match winning streak in the fall… Had an 8-7 singles record.
2018-19: 18 singles wins and 18 doubles wins in first season with the team... Reached second round of ITA Northeast Regional Championship... Named to Ivy League Second Team in doubles (with Samantha Martinelli)... Named ITA Scholar Athlete...
Before Yale: Five- star recruit on tennisrecruiting.net… BC Junior Female Player of the Year… represented Team Canada at Canada vs USA event in Las Vegas… U16 Canadian Junior Indoor Nationals Finalist… Victoria ITF Junior Singles Champion… represented Team BC at Canada Summer Games… U18 Canadian Junior Outdoor Nationals Sportsmanship Award… captain of high school team during junior and senior years… named team MVP after her senior year.
Notes: Principal’s Honour roll recipient in high school… volunteered at local tennis academy… plays piano and skiis… worked as science tutor… favorite sports team is the Vancouver Canucks.…
