Katie Tortorici joined Yale’s compliance office in March of 2018 as the Assistant Athletic Director of Compliance and was promoted to Assistant Athletic Director for Compliance & Student-Athlete Development in July 2023 and then Associate Athletic Director for Compliance & Student-Athlete Development in July 2024.
Her responsibilities include day-to-day compliance operations, including monitoring NCAA bylaws and Ivy League legislation in the areas of playing and practice seasons, recruiting, student-athlete eligibility, conducting NCAA and Ivy League reporting, and rules education. Tortorici's student-athlete development responsibilities include postseason surveys, co-support for the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC), Yale Bulldogs for Change, and other student groups.
Prior to joining Yale Athletics, Tortorici worked at the NCAA National Office as a Post-Graduate Intern in Enforcement, specifically under Level III/Secondary Violations. Her responsibilities included processing NCAA level III/secondary violations for DI, DII, and DIII NCAA member institutions, and assisting in major violation case investigations.
Tortorici graduated from Marquette University Law School (2017), where she earned her J.D. and Sports Law Certificate and was a recipient of the 2016 Annual Sports Law Alumni Achievement Award. During her law school career, she was a summer extern at the NCAA National Office with the Office for Committee on Infractions, a two-year intern in the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee’s compliance office, and a graduate assistant for the National Sports Law Institute.
She earned her BA at the University of Minnesota in 2014 with degrees in Sociology of Criminology and Political Science and earned a minor in Management. At the University of Minnesota, Tortorici was a student-athlete in both cross-country and track and field, where she was a four-year varsity letter winner, academic All-Big Ten Scholar-Athlete, and a school record holder as a member of the distance medley relay.
Tortorici is a native of Onalaska, Wisconsin.
