Kristina Foster

Kristina Foster, who won a pair of NCAA Championships and a pairof ACC Championships as a player at Maryland, joined the Yale fieldhockey staff as an assistant coach for the 2010 season. Foster, whohas also worked for the USA Field Hockey Futures Program, was atwo-time NFHCA National Academic Squad selection for theTerrapins.

A Medford, N.J., native, Foster was a four-year letter winnerfor Maryland and was part of the Terps’ 2006 and 2008 NCAAChampionship teams. Maryland also won ACC titles in 2008 and 2009.A midfielder, she started all 24 games last season and helped theteam to a program-best 23-1 record.

In addition to earning a pair of NFHCA National Academic Squadselections, and a pair of ACC Academic Squad selections, Foster wasalso on the Dean’s List at Maryland twice, and won the Officeof Multi-ethnic Student Education Academy of Excellence Award. Sheearned her B.S. in psychology this past spring and is now pursuinga master’s degree at the University of New Haven.

Foster took part in the American Cancer Society’s Rely forLife for three straight years at Maryland, and also participated inNational Student-Athlete Day twice, teaching middle school studentsthe value of education and teamwork. She was part of her teamwinning the Champs Cup Award, which goes to a female team foracademic, athletic and community achievement.

Foster has worked for the USA Field Hockey Futures Program since2006, providing consultation to athletes throughout the recruitmentprocess to maximize their abilities. While in high school, Fosterplayed in the National Futures Tournament four times, winning thechampionship in 2005.

Off the field, Foster worked most recently as head researchassistant at Laboratory Automation Psychology Research Center,supervising five undergraduate research assistants. She also spenttime as a research assistant at the Center for Addiction,Personality, and Emotion Research Center, and interned at FamilyHealth Psychology Center.
