Lex Debrosse

Lex Debrosse joined the Yale softball staff in the fall of 2021 and was promoted to top assistant coach by head coach Laura Ricciardone in the spring of 2022.

Since her arrival, Debrosse has played a key role in elevating the program’s performance. The 2024 season marked one of the most successful in Yale Softball history. The Bulldogs recorded 50+ stolen bases for the first time since 2004, posted back-to-back 20-win seasons for the first time since 2009, broke the program record for Ivy League wins in a single season, and captured their first Ivy League regular-season title since 1993.

In her first season, Debrosse worked closely with Yale’s outfielders and hitters. Under her guidance, standout Sam Goodcase led the Ivy League in batting and, alongside Maddie Latta, earned All-Ivy recognition at the plate.

Debrosse came to Yale after serving three seasons as a volunteer assistant at her alma mater, Central Connecticut State University. During her tenure, the Blue Devils collected 41 victories, with the 2020 campaign cut short due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

As a student-athlete, Debrosse was a four-year starter at shortstop and a two-time team captain at Central Connecticut. She posted a .460 slugging percentage her senior year and made 42 starts in 43 games as a first year, earning Northeast Conference Rookie of the Week honors three times. She concluded her career with a .263 batting average, 20 home runs, 90 RBIs, 33 stolen bases, and a .447 slugging percentage.

A native of New Bedford, Mass., Debrosse earned her undergraduate degree in criminology with a minor in business management in 2018. She also holds a master’s degree in criminal justice from Central Connecticut.
