Michael Preston, who coached his second season at Yale in 2010in charge of the offensive line, came to New Haven after a one-yearstint as tight ends coach at Wingate (N.C.) University. Preston wasthe defensive line coach at Lewis & Clark (Ore.) College in2007, which followed two years as offensive coordinator at theUniversity of La Verne (Calif.). He worked with the La Verneoffensive line, tight ends, running backs and defensive line overthat span. Preston has experience at every level of NCAA and NAIAfootball. His other coaching stops include Western IllinoisUniversity (2003-04, assistant defensive line coach), Ottawa (Kan.)University (2002-03, offensive line coach) and the University ofWashington (1997-2000, offensive assistant and assistant offensiveline coach). While at the University of Washington, where hegraduated in 2005 with a B.A. degree in Sociology, Preston helpedthe Huskies win the 2001 Rose Bowl. He is married to the formerCarrie Hawes.
