Vernon Melton Sr. works in customer service at Payne Whitney Gym, supervising the building and assisting coaches and staff when needed. He began working at Yale in 1991-92 at Gibbs Laboratory, then came to work at PWG in March of 1992.
A New Haven native, Melton graduated from Wilbur Cross High School in 1988. He is the father of three young adults: daughter Cynthia (Cindy) and sons Vernon Jr. and Jermaine. He has one grandson, Joshua Elijah Melton.
Melton is a member of the clergy (Elder). He loves singing, cooking and spending quality time with his family and friends, along with clothes and shoe shopping.
