HANOVER, N.H. – Freshman Marc Powers
advanced to the quarterfinals of the Wilson / ITA Regionals singles
draw Sunday at Dartmouth. Powers also teamed up with senior Connor
Dawson to advance to the quarterfinals of the doubles draw.
In the round of 32, Powers defeated No. 13 seed Alistair Felton
of Harvard 6-4, 6-0. Powers then rolled to a 7-6 (3), 6-0
victory over No. 6 seed Thomas Nolan of Boston College in the round
of 16. Powers, a native of Stamford, Conn., will face No. 3 seed
Mihai Nichifor of Columbia on Monday.
The doubles team of Powers and Dawson teamed up to defeat No. 5
seeded Yohei Shoj and Matt Siow of Princeton 8-4 in the round of 16
to advance to the quarterfinals.
No. 14 seed junior Calvin Bennett defeated No. 17 seed Jeremy
Feldman 7-6 (3), 6-2 in the round of 32 before losing to Nichifor
6-3, 6-3 in the round of 16.
Freshman John Huang defeated No. 16 seeded Halvar Dil of Stony
Brook in the round of 32 before dropping a three-setter 6-2, 6-7
(4), 6-4 to Haig Schneiderman of Columbia in the round of 16.
