IRVINE, Calif. -
Yale improved to 6-3 on the season with a 4-3 victory over UC Irvine in Irvine, Calif. Wednesday.
The Bulldogs won two of three doubles matches to win the doubles point. Playing No. 2 doubles, senior Jeff Dawson and freshman Erik Blumenkranz edged Zac Tsai and Jon Kazarian 9-8. At the No. 3 doubles spot, freshman Joel Samaha and junior Connor Dawson won 8-5 over Gautam Vaidyanathan and Steven Henderson.
Yale won matches at No. 3, 5 and 6 singles to secure the victory over UC Irvine. At No. 3 singles, Connor Dawson crised to a 6-4, 6-1 win over Khunpol Issara.
Both matches at No. 5 and No. 6 singles went three sets. At No. 5 singles, Samaha battled to a 4-6, 7-6, 7-5 win over Sam Gould. Blumenkranz pulled out a 2-6, 6-3, 6-2 win over Tsai at No. 6 singles.
