NEW HAVEN, Conn. - See Heo Moon and the women's golf team will
try to make it a perfect three-for-three this weekend as they
travel to Penn State's Nittany Lion Invitational in State College.
Moon has taken individual titles and posted the low score in both
of her first two collegiate tournaments (the Princeton Invitational
and the Yale Women's Intercollegiate), and her teammates have
backed her up, as the Bulldogs, too, have earned championships in
both tournaments so far this season.
The Nittany Lion Invitational should mark a step up in
competition for Yale, as the 17-team field in State College will
consist of the likes of Bucknell, the College of Charleston,
Lehigh, Rutgers, Richmond and William and Mary. Also taking to the
par-72, 6,231 yard course at Penn State will be Yale's Ancient
Eight rivals Columbia and Harvard.
The Bulldogs will need big performances not only out of Moon,
but the rest of the squad this weekend as the tournament will score
the top four of five scores from each team after 54 holes. Yale
will certainly have plenty of players vying for a place in those
top four, as last week Harriet Owers-Bradley, Callie Kemmer, and
captain Alyssa Roland all tied for seventh overall with matching
54-hole scores of 223. Lily Boettcher and Joy Kim tied for
19th overall.
Yale will tee off against the rest of the Nittany Lion
Invitational field starting at 8:30 Saturday morning for 36 holes
Saturday, followed by one, 18-hole round Sunday morning beginning
at 9.
