Sessa Wins Individual Title; Bulldogs Take Third at Penn State

STATE COLLEGE, Pa. – Powered by a standout performance from senior Mia Sessa, the Yale women's golf team secured a third-place finish at the Nittany Lion Invitational, hosted by Penn State.

The Results

  • Sessa captured the individual title with a five-under-par performance over the two-day, three-round event. She opened with a six-under in the first round, followed with an even-par second, and closed with a one-over final round.
  • First-year Anya Mathur recorded her first career top-10 finish, tying for seventh with Sophia Bardunias (Bucknell) and Sophia Fujita (Quinnipiac). Mathur posted back-to-back even-par rounds before carding a three-over in the final round.
  • As a team, Yale entered the final round in first place before sliding to third. The Bulldogs finished just two strokes behind Penn State, who won the event, and one stroke behind Delaware. Yale closed the tournament at 16-over.
  • The Bulldogs' third-place finish in the 16-team field marked their best result of the fall season.
