GREENVILLE, S.C. — The Yale men's tennis team swept the doubles point to open its match at Furman on Monday afternoon, but could not overcome a strong showing by the Paladins is singles play, as the home team snapped the Bulldogs' seven-match winning streak with a 4-3 victory. No. 1 singles player Marc Powers and No. 5 Connor Dawson won their singles matches for Yale.

With the loss, the Elis fall to 9-4 in the spring season. Furman improves to 5-6 with the home win.

At No. 1 doubles, it was Joel Samaha and Erik Blumenkranz earning the win for Yale, 8-3. Powers and Calvin Bennett won, 8-4, in the No. 2 seed, and Dawson and John Huang completed the sweep of doubles action with an 8-4 win at No. 3. Powers and Dawson both won their singles matches in straight sets.

Yale is back in action tomorrow, closing out its spring trip with a 2 p.m. match at USC Upstate.
