Sets Yale Record
WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – Freshman Alex
Forrester made a splash in her first event at the NCAA
Championships on Friday. Forrester won the B final Friday
night in the 100-yard butterfly.
In the morning preliminaries, Forrester qualified with the
12th fastest time of 52.69. Senior Susan Kim also
swam in the morning, but failed to qualify for the finals in the
100-yard breaststroke. She swam nearly two seconds slower
than her time just a few weeks ago at the Ivy League Championships.
In the night finals, Forrester dropped .34 seconds off her
morning time to win the B final with a time of 52.35. She
broke the Yale record and her own personal best time. Had she
been in the A final, she would have taken seventh overall based on
her time.
Both Forrester and Kim will swim again Saturday. Kim will
participate in the 200-yard breaststroke, while Forrester swims the
200-yard butterfly.
