PRINCETON, N.J. – Yale lost 4-3 to
Princeton in its Ivy League Opener Friday at Princeton University
to fall to 11-7 on the season and 0-1 in the Ivy League. The
Tigers improved to 6-10 overall and 2-0 in the Ivy League with the
victory.
The Bulldogs lost the doubles point despite winning at No. 1
doubles. The duo of sophomore Eirk Blumenkranz and sophomore
Joel Samaha defeated Yohei Shoji and Matt Slow 8-6. Yale
dropped its other two doubles matches though.
Yale won its top three singles matches. At No. 1 singles,
freshman Marc Powers rolled to a 6-4, 6-4 win over Charlie
Brosens. Freshman John Huang cruised to a 6-0, 6-2 win over
Matija Pecotic at No. 2 singles. Playing No. 3 singles,
junior Calvin Bennett pulled out the victory when his opponent
retired early.
The Bulldogs will be back in action Saturday when they face Penn
in Philadelphia.
