BRIDGEPORT, Conn. – The Yale gymnastics team finished its regular season this evening with a meet against the University of Bridgeport. The Bulldogs fell to the Purple Knights by a score of 193.525 to 189.950.
Sophomore Camilla Opperman was Yale's top scorer on the vault, scoring a 9.525 to finish in fourth place. Morgan Traina was right behind her in fifth place, tying with a Bridgeport gymnast with a score of 9.450.
Traina was impressive on the uneven parallel bars, scoring a career-high 9.850 to tie for second place. Brianna Chrisman produced a career-best as well, scoring a 9.750 to finish in fifth place.
On the balance beam, Brittney Sooksengdao scored Yale's only individual win of the meet, finishing first with a score of 9.750. Joyce Li was right behind her in a tie for second place, scoring a 9.725.
On the floor exercise, Opperman tied for fourth place with a score of 9.775. Li was next in sixth place with a score of 9.700 followed closely by Traina in a tie for seventh place with a 9.675.
In the all-around, Li finished in second place with a total score of 38.300 and Traina was third with a score of 38.000.
The Bulldogs finish their season on Saturday at the ECAC championships hosted by Temple in Philadelphia. The meet will start at 12:00 p.m.
