Bulldogs Dominate in Doubles; Amos Clinches Match for Yale
NEW HAVEN, Conn. - The Yale women's tennis team defeated Boston University 4-3 on Saturday at the Cullman-Heyman Tennis Center. After taking the doubles point, the Bulldogs went on to win two singles matches, while BU managed three singles wins. With the match tied at 3-3, senior Courtney Amos secured the vital fourth point for Yale.
Yale started on a strong note by securing the doubles point. Senior Madeleine Hamilton and junior Tina Jiang teamed up to comfortably win 6-2 against Johanna Hyoty and Sabrina Faybyshev, while the duo of senior Ree Ree Li and sophomore Valerie Shklover defeated Iryna Kostirko and Barbara Rodriguez 6-4. Juniors Sherry Li and Caroline Lynch played a tighter match, as they were forced into a tiebreak but went on to win the match 7-6(2) against Kim McCallom and Remi Ramos.
Sherry Li and Shklover were two-time winners on Saturday. Li defeated Iryna Kostirko 6-4, 6-4, and Shklover defeated Remi Ramos 6-2, 6-2 to send Yale one point away from winning the match. With BU's three wins at singles, the match was tied at 3-3 and was ultimately decided by Amos's match against Sabrina Faybyshev. While Amos lost the first set 6-2, she fought back to secure the second 7-5. Now playing with momentum, Amos completed the comeback, winning the third set 6-1 for a final score of 2-6, 7-5, 6-1 to clinch the match for Yale.

The Bulldogs will stay at home for their next round of matches. Yale will first take on Massachusetts at 1:00 p.m. on Friday before playing a doubleheader on Sunday against Fairfield at 10:00 a.m. and Long Island University at 2:00 p.m.
