Bulldogs Back On Road At Penn

Yale Tied For Second Place, Three Points Behind Brown

NEW HAVEN, Conn. – The Yale women's soccer team begins the final stretch of the regular season with a trip to Penn on Saturday. Kickoff is slated for 4 p.m. ESPN+ has the video.
 
Here are notes on a very important Ivy League game.
 
* With three games remaining, the Bulldogs sit in a tie with Harvard for second place in the Ivy League. Both school are 3-1 and have nine points. Brown sits alone at the top with a 4-0 record (12 points.) Yale closes out the season by hosting Brown on Nov. 9.
 
* Yale is playing its first road game since a 1-0 victory at Princeton on Sept. 28. This is the Bulldogs' only road game in the month of October.
 
* The Bulldogs are coming off a 1-0 victory over Cornell last Saturday. Yale (10-3 overall) has won three straight games and eight of its last nine.
 
* Aerial Chavarin was named to the Ivy League Honor Roll on Monday. Chavarin scored the game-winning goal vs. the Big Red.
 
* Chavarin is second in the Ivy League with seven goals.
 
* First year Ellery Winkler has a league-high 46 shots and is third with 18 points.
 
* Yale has posted shutouts in two of its last three games and hasn't allowed more than one goal in a game since a 2-1 loss at No. 25 Virginia Tech on Sept. 8.
 
* The Bulldogs are seeking their first 4-1 start in Ivy play since 2009.
 
HISTORY LESSONS
 
Last year at Reese Stadium, Penn edged the Bulldogs 2-1. The winning goal came with less than 10 minutes to play in the second half. Five of the last six meeting between the teams have been decided by one goal or ended in a tie. Yale hasn't beaten Penn since a 2-1 victory in 2009 in Philadelphia
 
SCOUTING PENN
 
The Quakers (8-4-1, 2-2 Ivy) have won two straight games, including a 2-0 victory over Delaware State on Monday. Penn beat Dartmouth 2-0 last Saturday. Emily Sands (4 goals, 5 assists, 13 points) and Breukelen Woodard (5 goals, 1 assist, 11 points) lead team in scoring.
