Box Score BOSTON, Mass. – The Yale Women's Hockey Team nearly overcame a three-goal deficit but lost the momentum and the game to Harvard, 5-2 at the Bright-Landry Hockey Center.
The Bulldogs, who fell to 3-1 (1-1 ECAC) despite outshooting the Crimson 30-27, found themselves down 3-0 early in the second period. That's when sophomore center
Claire Dalton notched her first of the year on assists from forward
Elle Hartje and blueliner
Emma Seitz.
Almost three minutes later with an advantage, junior right wing
Rebecca Foggia cut the margin to one. First-year forward
Grace Lee and Seitz, who had a three-point weekend, picked up assists.
That 3-2 score would become the final, three-goal margin after a pair of Harvard power-play scores.
"We were forced to fight from behind early in the second when it was 3-0, and we managed to tighten it up, push back and actually out shoot them to finish the game," said
Mark Bolding, Yale's Susan Cavanagh Head Coach, who got his first conference win against Dartmouth on Friday. "They are a very quick transition team, so playing a game like that now will help us prepare for more big games, even though we didn't get the result we were looking for. Lots of positive moments to take away, but not giving up overall impresses me the most."
The Bulldogs are home next weekend to host Union and RPI at the Whale.
