NEW HAVEN, Conn. – Last Saturday's loss at Columbia ended Yale's hopes of an Ivy League title. The Bulldogs, though, still have a lot to play for in the regular season finale vs. Brown this Saturday. Yale has NCAA Tournament aspirations and a victory over the nationally ranked Bears would be a significant resume booster for an at-large bid. Kickoff at Reese Stadium is slated for 1 p.m. ESPN+ has the video.
Here are notes on the Ivy League matchup.
* There are six Yale seniors that will be recognized prior to kickoff.
Jane Buckley, Aerial Chavarin, Alyssa Fagel, Noelle Higginson, Kirsten Lobben and
Kristi Wharton have each made outstanding contributions to the women's soccer program both on and off the field over the last four years.
* The Bulldogs (11-4, 4-2 Ivy) are looking to finish with their most overall victories since the 2005 team won 15 games. That year was also the last time Yale earned an NCAA Tournament bid.
* The Bulldogs are 6-1 in the friendly confines of Reese Stadium this year.
* Chavarin's eight goals are tied for second in the Ivy League.
* Higginson's three game-winning goals are tied for the league lead.
HISTORY LESSONS
The Bulldogs are 6-2 in their last eight games vs. Brown at Reese Stadium. Last year in Providence, the Bears topped Yale 3-0. Brown leads the all-time series 26-17-2.
SCOUTING BROWN
The Bears (14-1-1, 6-0 Ivy) are ranked No. 17 in this week's United Soccer Coaches poll. With 14 victories thus far in 2019, Brown has set the program record for wins in a season. The Bears can clinch out the outright Ivy title with a win or tie or a Harvard loss or tie. Abby Carchio converted a penalty kick in the 110
