NEW HAVEN, Conn. – The Bulldogs returned from the holiday break and looked very good in a 4-1 win over McGill at Ingalls Rink this afternoon.
Will D'Orsi had a pair of goals and
Kevin O'Neil chipped in two assists as Yale used the exhibition game to get ready for the stretch run of the regular season.
Luke Stevens, who almost tallied on a penalty shot in the second minute of the game, notched Yale's third goal when he followed up an O'Neil shot from the left circle. That followed both goals by D'Orsi, the senior who got the Eli offense rolling early.
Robbie DeMontis produced the Bulldogs' final score when he followed up an O'Neil shot in the third frame.
"It was good to be back and be part of the team," said DeMontis, who got injured in the first game of the season and has been working his way back to the ice. "I think we are moving in the right direction. Games like this help get your legs back under you and shake off the rust."
Corbin Kaczperski, who got the start and made eight saves, and
Nicholas MacNab (9 stops) split time in the Yale net.
The Bulldogs, who had a 37-18 edge in shots, play next at the University of New Hampshire on Jan. 3 at 7 p.m. on NESN.
