Seniors Honored at Team Banquet

Team Awards Named at Final Gathering

NEW HAVEN, Conn. - The 2018-19 Yale women's hockey team gathered for the final time and honored the senior class along with five team award winners at Friday's annual banquet.

Claire Dalton, Kaitlyn Rippon, Rebecca Foggia, Emma Vlasic and Kyra O'Brien all had their names engraved onto the plaques that make up the walls of the Schley Room at David S. Ingalls Rink.

After a productive year at both ends of the rink, Dalton earned the team MVP award for her breakout rookie campaign. The Toronto, Ontario, native was as dangerous a facilitator as she was a scoring threat.

Dalton collected 18 points on 13 assists and five goals, playing in all 29 games this season. The first-year forward ranked second in points and plus/minus (+4) and tied first-year blueliner Emma Seitz for the team-lead in shots with 79.

Fellow first-year forward Rippon was honored with the Mandi Schwartz Award, given to the skater who best exemplifies courage, grit and determination on and off the ice. Rippon's tenacity manifested during every shift, highlighted by a sheer refusal to give up on the play.

Senior classmates Vlasic and O'Brien each took home hardware. O'Brien earned the Richard H. Brodhead Award as the player "who has contributed significantly to the success of the team while excelling academically."

Given to the skater who excels in a position of leadership, Vlasic was the recipient of the Bingham Cup Award for her efforts on and off the ice as the 2018-19 Yale women's hockey team captain. The senior forward had one of her best seasons offensively, finishing with 17 points (8-9-17).

Foggia earned the Coaches' Award, given by the staff based on work ethic, attitude and commitment to the core values of the Yale women's ice hockey program. The sophomore forward finished with eight points on seven goals.
