NEW HAVEN, Conn. – Yale's challenging season-opening schedule continues when UConn visits Reese Stadium on Wednesday in the Bulldogs' home opener. Kickoff is slated for 7 p.m. ESPN+ has the video.

Here are Yale notes leading up to the matchup:

* The Huskies are the Bulldogs' third straight opponent that played in the NCAA Tournament a year ago. Yale earned draws with the first two – 1-1 at Syracuse and 2-2 at Colgate.

* Mark Winhoffer has had a hand in all three Yale goals on the season. He assisted on Miguel Yuste's tying goal against Syracuse and scored and added an assist in the draw with Colgate. Winhoffer was named the Ivy League Player of the Week on Monday.

* Yuste also is off to a fast start. In addition to scoring against Syracuse, he assisted on Winhoffer's goal vs. Colgate.

* Adedeji (DJ) Palmer scored his first career goal on Sunday against the Raiders.

* Senior Will Emerson has played all 220 minutes through the first two games. Winhoffer (215), John Leisman (217), Jeremy Haddock (210), Justin Lobe (210) and Ryan Matteo (204) have all played more than 200 minutes.

HISTORY LESSONS

The Bulldogs and Huskies resume their state rivalry after not playing last year. UConn leads the all-time series 40-27-4. Yale's last win in the series came in 2003. Four of the last five games between the teams have been 1-0 UConn victories, including the last meeting at Reese Stadium in 2016.

SCOUTING UCONN

The Huskies (2-1) suffered their first loss last Friday, 2-1 vs. Fairleigh Dickinson. UConn had a 12-5 edge in shots, but the Knights scored twice in a three-minute stretch midway through the first half. Jordan Hall has scored all six of UConn's goals on the season. Dayonn Harris has assists on five of the goals. Ray Reid is in his 23rd year as the head coach of the Huskies. UConn is playing a majority of its home games at Dillon Stadium in Hartford this fall due to the construction of the state-of-the art Joseph J. Morrone Stadium at the Rizza Family Soccer Complex.
