NEW HAVEN, Conn. – The Yale men's soccer team has one more tune up before the start of Ivy League play. The Bulldogs travel to Central Connecticut on Monday. Kickoff is slated for 3 p.m. at the CCSU Soccer Field. NEC Front Row has the video.
Here are notes on the state matchup:
* The Bulldogs (4-0-2) have been off since a 2-0 victory over Stony Brook last Saturday at Reese Stadium.
* Yale has won four straight games and is unbeaten through its first six games for the first time since 2005.
* The Bulldogs are seeking their first five-game winning streak since 2003.
* Yale is ranked No. 28 in this week's College Soccer News Top-30 national poll and received 35 votes, the third most of the teams also receiving votes, in the United Soccer Coaches top-25 poll.
* A Bulldog has been selected to the College Soccer News National Team of the Week in each of the last two weeks.
Miguel Yuste is the latest honoree after scoring both goals in the 2-0 win over Stony Brook.
Ryan Matteo was recognized on Sept. 19 after scoring twice in a 3-0 victory over UConn.
* Yuste shares the Ivy League lead in points (9) and goals (4).
* Central Connecticut is the third in-state opponent for the Bulldogs, who have posted victories over UConn (3-0 on Sept. 11) and Fairfield (1-0 on Sept. 18).
* The Bulldogs kick off Ivy play next Friday at home vs. Harvard. Kickoff at Reese Stadium is set for 7 p.m.
HISTORY LESSONS
Yale and Central Connecticut are playing for the first time since 2015. The series is even at 6-6-1. The Blue Devils have won the last meetings, both by 1-0 scores.
SCOUTING CENTRAL CONNECTICUT
The Blue Devils (0-4-1) play their first Northeast Conference game on Friday vs. St. Francis Brooklyn. Francesco Ambrosino and Jamie Simpson each have a goal. CCSU is celebrating its 50th season in 2019.
