NEW HAVEN, Conn. - The Yale women's tennis team moved to 2-0 on the young season with a stellar team effort against regional rivals Quinnipiac.
The Bulldogs kicked off the day with a dominant effort in doubles; Jessie Gong and Samantha Martinelli, the fourth ranked team in the nation, opened with a 6-0 win in the No. 1 match. Chelsea Kung and Rena Lin promptly matched that effort to give the team an early 1-0 lead.
Doubles proved to set the tone for the afternoon, with Yale winning all six of their singles matches in straight sets. Martinelli rebounded after a loss last week to win easily, 6-1, 6-3. Kung dropped only three games en route to her second consecutive win as a ranked singles player. Caroline Dunleavy, Gong, Lin, and Raissa Lou all won in straights, with each of them winning one of their sets 6-0.
The Bulldogs jump back into action next Friday with a home match against Boston College.
