Box Score BURLINGTON, Vt. –
Curtis Hall returned to the Yale Men's Hockey Program just in time to make an impact in a big, road, non-conference game tonight. Hall, who skated for Team USA at the 2020 IIHF World Junior Championships in the Czech Republic last week, tied the game with under a minute to play in regulation and then notched the winner in overtime to get the Bulldogs a 3-2 win over Vermont at Gutterson Field House.
Skating six-on-five and trailing by one in the third, Hall tipped home the equalizer with 51 seconds left.
Jack St. Ivany's shot from the point was going wide of the net until Hall reached out to re-direct the puck.
The momentum shift was too much for UVM to withstand.
Justin Pearson picked off a Catamount pass near center ice and sent it quickly to the Boston Bruins draft pick, who leads the Elis with eight goals in 10 games this season. Hall raced to the dot of the right circle before firing a shot over the right shoulder of Tyler Harmon (26 saves) at 2:53 of the extra session.
Teddy Wooding scored his first collegiate goal in the first period and the Elis took that 1-0 lead into the first break.
UVM responded in the second with the equalizer and the go-ahead tally in the third period before the visitors pulled
Corbin Kaczperski (27 saves) for the extra skater. That's when the sophomore from Chagrin Falls, Ohio, performed his magic around the crease.
Yale is next in action at Madison Square Garden on Saturday night at 8 in the Rivalry on Ice against Harvard, which airs live on ESPN+.
