NEW HAVEN, Conn. – Ella von der Schulenburg, the captain of the 2019-20 Yale women's crew, will represent her country at the 2020 European Championships this weekend in Poznan, Poland. Von der Schulenburg, who hails from Zurich, Switzerland, will sit in the Swiss quadruple scull. The championship gets under way on Friday and concludes on Sunday.
 
Von der Schulenburg has considerable experience with the Swiss National rowing program. She sat in Switzerland's quadruple scull at the 2019 World Rowing U23 Championship, raced in the single scull at the 2018 Under-23 World Championship and represented Switzerland in the 2016 European Rowing Junior Championship and the 2015 World Rowing Junior Championship.
 
At Yale, von der Schulenburg sat in the varsity eight in each of her four years. As a junior, she earned honorable mention All-America honors. As a senior, in addition to serving as captain, she was the recipient of the team's Kiesling Award, presented to that member of the women's crew who has shown the dedication, perseverance, and consistency of effort necessary to maintain morale and a high level of competitiveness and cooperation on the squad.
