NEW HAVEN, Conn. –For the first time in 22 years and for the 50
th time ever, Yale University football will face off against Connecticut rival, UConn during the 2021 season. The Bulldogs and Huskies first met in 1948 and will now meet on the gridiron again on Saturday, October 16, 2021 at Rentschler Field in East Hartford, Conn.

The reigning Ivy League Champion Bulldogs will retake the field in 2021 after missing this past season due to the COVID-19 pandemic. UConn also canceled its 2020 campaign because of the coronavirus.

Victoria M. "Vicky" Chun, Thomas A. Beckett Director of Athletics. "Our fans have been clamoring for this matchup for decades and we are happy to come through for them. Yale and UConn football have had a long history together and David (Benedict) and I are happy to bring the in-state rivalry back again."

The Elis first faced off against UConn 62 years ago. Yale won the first 16 matchups and leads the all-time series 32-17.

The two teams played one another each season from 1948-to-1998 with the exception of the 1951campaign and in 1985 when the game was canceled due to Hurricane Gloria.

Yale is UConn's fifth-most played opponent behind Rhode Island (95) Maine, (74), Massachusetts (73) and New Hampshire (71).
