Game Notes for Yale
YALE AT DARTMOUTH
SATURDAY, FEB. 15, 2020
THOMPSON ARENA - HANOVER, N.H.
Yale, 2-2-1 in its last five outings, has a big conference road trip looming with just three weekends remaining in the regular season. The Bulldogs are in eighth place in the ECAC, a point behind seventh-place Dartmouth and two points out of fifth. Friday night at Boston, the Bulldogs take on fourth-place and No. 18 ranked Harvard before heading to Hanover on Saturday to face the Big Green. Both 7 p.m. puck drops are on ESPN+
BULLDOGS
Kevin O'Neil notched two goals and three points overall last weekend in a pair of excellent college hockey games. The Bulldogs beat Princeton 5-3 a night after dropping a 3-2 OT decision to Quinnipiac. Other Yale scorers last week included
Tyler Welsh and
Justin Pearson, the team's leading point producers with 17 each.
Hayden Rowan,
Evan Smith and
Will D'Orsi also lit the lamp on a seven-goal weekend at the Whale. Senior
Corbin Kaczperski did a great job to hold the No. 16 Bobcats to two goals in regulation, while he helped the Elis overcome an early deficit against the Tigers before his teammates tallied four straight times to put the game away. Two of those goals came during a five-minute advantage.
CRIMSON
Harvard (11-8-4, 9-4-3) is 2-2-2 in its last six and hopes to hold onto a home playoff spot after a 2-0-2 conference run that included 1-1 OT tie at Cornell. The Crimson are coming off a 7-2 loss to Boston College on Monday night.
BIG GREEN
Dartmouth (10-9-4, 7-7-2), which last played on Feb. 7 in a 6-2 loss to Harvard at Hanover, takes a three-game skid into its Friday contest with Brown at Thompson Arena. The Big Green earned a 2-1 win over Cornell back in December, a few weeks after grabbing a point in a tie with Quinnipiac.
SERIES
There have been 262 Yale-Harvard meetings in eight different cities. The first took place on Feb. 26, 1900 in New York, with Yale prevailing 5-4. The Crimson lead the all-time series 148-92-22 and took the first two meetings this year. Against Dartmouth, the Bulldogs lead the series 113-97-14 and are 17-10-2 in the last 29 meetings. However, the Big Green grabbed a 4-3 win at the Whale in November. Â
