MONTGOMERY, Ala. - The Yale women's tennis team pulled out a huge win on the first day of the Blue Gray Tournament, taking down a stellar Alabama team 4–2.

Samantha Martinelli has had a terrific 2020 season so far and continued that today, knocking off Moka Ito at the No. 1 spot 6–3, 6–1.

Jessie Gong grinded out a stellar win 6–1, 3–6, 7–5 to give Yale some huge momentum. First-year
Chelsea Kung continued her strong debut season with a 6–3, 4–6, 6–2 victory over Isabella Harvison.

Rena Lin has stepped into the often high-pressure role of the No. 4 singles spot and did not disappoint once again, defeating Sasha Gorchanyuk in a hard-fought 6–7, 6–2, 6–2 match.

The Bulldogs advanced to play No. 5 Princeton in the second round.

The doubles portion of the match was held later Friday, and the Tigers won the doubles point. The singles is set for 10 a.m. on Saturday.
