PROVIDENCE, R.I. –The Yale University women's swimming & diving team finished third overall at the 2020 Ivy League Championship hosted by Brown University. The Bulldogs used several third-place individual finishes on the final day of competition to lock up the overall bronze medal for the Elis.
Princeton tallied 1,569 points to top the field. Harvard (1,462) and Yale also (1,139.5) eclipsed the 1,000-point threshold. Penn (949.5), Brown (843), Columbia (755), Dartmouth (598) and Cornell (543) rounded out the eight-team field.
One of Yale's top finishes on the final day came from
Nikki Watters who scored a 316.95 on the three-meter diving board to take home a silver medal.
The Bulldogs got four third-place finishes from
Ashley Loomis (1650 freestyle – 16:22.28),
Cate Sawkins (200 backstroke – 1:56.94),
Izzi Henig (100 freestyle – 48.90) and
Cha O'Leary (200 breaststroke – 2:13.45) to help secure the overall bronze.
Raime Jones also podiumed for the Elis with a seventh-place finish in the 200 back at 1:58.77.
The Bulldogs started and stopped in the third position at the grueling, multi-day tournament at Brown as Yale held off five other Ivy squads.
