CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – It was a memorable day two of the Ivy League Championship for the Yale men's swimming and diving team.
Christian DeVol captured the 1-meter diving title with a score of 363.80, while the 200 freestyle relay team won with a time of 1:18.09.
The strong performances moved Yale into third place with 333.5 points. Harvard is in the lead with 489 points followed by Princeton with 450 points.
DeVol, a junior, had finished second on the 1-meter board as a first year and was fourth a year ago. He is the first Bulldog to win the 1-meter title since 2008.
The winning 200 freestyle team was comprised of
Henry Gaissert,
Philippe Marcoux,
Joseph Page and
Michael Blank. It is the first time since 1992 that Yale has captured the 200 freestyle title. The Bulldogs edged Columbia to win the title. The Lions finished in 1:18.50.
Yale also had a strong showing in the 50 freestyle final. Page finished third with a time of 19.73, Marcoux was fourth in 19.91 and Gaissert finished fifth in 19.93.
