LYNCHBURG, Va. – The chilly temperatures in Virginia forced a number of changes to the schedule at the Liberty Classic. Yale's bats, though, certainly weren't feeling the cold in the first game of the day. The Bulldogs erupted for 13 hits and 14 runs in a 14-6 victory over Fairfield.
Yale dropped its second game of the day, falling to East Carolina 5-0.
First year
Sam Goodcase went 4-for-4, including the first home run of her career, to lead the way against the Stags.
Sydney Grobman also went deep.
The Bulldogs seized control by scoring four runs in the second inning. The big hit was a three-run double from
Giovy Webb.
Yale also scored four runs in the fourth and sixth inning.
Carolyn Skotz's RBI double in the sixth capped the scoring and ended the game.
Miranda Papes pitched five innings to earn her third win of the season.
Lindsay Kuss scored three runs for the Bulldogs.
Against East Carolina,
Annie Tarte and
Kortney Ponce each had two hits.
On Saturday, Yale plays Butler at 11 a.m. and Hofstra at 3 p.m.
