Game Notes

NEW HAVEN, Conn. – Yale, winners of six straight games and 13 of its last 14, is one of the hottest teams in all of college basketball. The Bulldogs will put those streaks on the line when they host Harvard and Dartmouth this weekend. The Crimson visit Lee Amphitheater on Friday for a 5 p.m. tip in a game that will be televised nationally on ESPNU, while Dartmouth is in town for a 7 p.m. tip on Saturday. ESPN+ has the video of the Bulldog-Big Green matchup.

At Friday's game during halftime and select timeouts, Yale Athletics will welcome JADHA of the Connecticut American Double Dutch League. Double Dutch is a game in which two long jump ropes turning in opposite directions are jumped by one or more individuals jumping simultaneously. JADHA stands for juvenile and adult health awareness ministry, and their mission is to bring the great sport of Double Dutch back to Connecticut to support healthy activities for youth and adults, build character, self-esteem, health awareness, educate, and provide opportunities for growth.

Yale (16-4, 4-0 Ivy) is coming off a dominating weekend sweep of Columbia and Cornell. The Bulldogs shot 56.2 percent from the field in the two games, while limiting the Lions and Big Red to 42.3 percent. Azar Swain, who averaged 20.5 points and shot 62.5 percent (10-of-16) from three-point range in the two games, was named the Ivy League Player of the Week. Swain became the third Bulldog to be honored this year, joining three-time recipient Paul Atkinson and Jordan Bruner, who was selected after scoring 23 points in the home win over Brown.

The two wins last weekend moved the Bulldogs to 7-0 in the friendly confines of Lee Amphitheater where they have outscored their opponents by 27.3 points per game this year. Yale has won nine straight games in Lee dating back to last year and is 59-11 (.843) in the historic building over the last 5+ seasons. The current nine-game home winning streak is tied for the 23rd longest in Division I.

Yale's success has led to national recognition. The Bulldogs earned votes in both national polls released on Monday. Yale has 10 points in the USA Today Coaches Poll, which puts them at No. 32, and also received a vote in the Associated Press writer's poll. It's the first time this season the Bulldogs have received votes in both polls in the same week. In addition, Yale is ranked a season-high second in the CollegeInsider Mid Major Top 25 and No. 10 in the Mid Major Madness Top 25.

The Bulldogs continue to be among the national leaders in several categories, including defensive rebounds per game where they lead the nation at 31.0 per game. In addition, Yale is fourth in field goal percentage defense (.369), eighth in scoring margin (14.0), 10th in assists per game (16.9) and 20th in three-point field goal percentage (38.0).

Individually, Bruner is 10th in the nation in defensive rebounds per game (7.68) and Atkinson is 11th in field goal percentage (.636).

Yale also is the Ivy League's top team in scoring offense (77.1 ppg.), scoring defense (63.0 ppg.), field goal percentage (.473), field goal percentage defense (.369), three-point field goal percentage (.380), three-point field goal percentage defense (.292), rebounding margin (+6.2) and assists (16.9).

Yale has won 16 of its first 20 games for the second straight year. The Bulldogs got to 18 wins last year before suffering their fifth loss.
