Game Notes for YALE
Yale enters this weekend in eighth place with 13 points and is looking to host an ECAC Hockey Playoff Series in March. A couple of conference teams come to the Whale this week hoping to help prevent the Elis from reaching that goal. No. 16 Quinnipiac comes in Friday followed by Princeton on Saturday, a pair of 7 p.m. puck drops on ESPN+.
BULLDOGS
Corbin Kaczperski, who came up with a few amazing stops over his 49 saves last weekend, put the Bulldogs in position to win both games in the North Country but did not get enough support on the offensive side. Yale, which picked up one point, lost to No. 6 Clarkson 3-1 before skating to a 2-2 OT tie at St. Lawrence. Sophomore forward
Curtis Hall leads the team with 13 goals, but did not find the net last week. He shares the team lead in points (15) with
Justin Pearson and
Tyler Welsh, both of whom scored goals in the North Country.
BOBCATS
Quinnipiac, which moved from 18 to No. 16 in the national polls this week, is coming off a 5-0 win over No. 1 Cornell and a 2-1 victory over Colgate. The Bobcats (16-9-1, 9-4-1) enter the weekend in third place in the ECAC with 19 points after winning four of their last five games. The team from Hamden is 7-0 in home conference games but 5-7-1 on the road overall while being outscored 41-28.
TIGERS
Princeton heads to Brown on Friday with in 11th place after falling to Colgate (3-0) and Cornell (5-3). The Tigers scored a season-high five goals in their first two games of the season against St. Cloud State but has not scored more than three in any game since.
SERIES
Quinnipiac has a 22-7-5 advantage in the Yale series since the first meeting in 2006. Yale's first meeting with the Tigers dates to 1900, and the Bulldogs have a 143-108-10 record against the guys from New Jersey
