Bulldogs Split Final Two Matches at Ivy League Round Robin

Yale Routs Brown, Falls To Columbia

After two long days competing in the Ivy League Round-Robin in Cambridge, Mass., the Yale women's fencing team finished in fifth place. Overall, the Bulldogs defeated Penn 14-13 and Brown 22-5, and fell to Princeton, Cornell, Harvard, and Columbia 19-8, 15-12, 18-9, and 18-9 respectively.

Individually, saberist Sydney Hirsch tied for seventh place with an 11-7 record, just barely missing the 6th place cutoff to make Second Team All Ivy. Sophia Zhuang rose to 15th place and Lauren Kim retained her 17th place finish from Saturday. In foil, Emme Zhou finished in ninth place with a 10-8 record, and Camille Pham and Anna Zhou both rose to finish in 12th and 15th place respectively. Epeeist Joy Ma finished in seventh place with an 8-6 record, immediately followed by Shirley Wang in an eighth place tie. Michelle Nam maintained her 13th place standing. Linda Liu and Francesca Federovsky both had high win-loss ratios, but did not fence enough bouts to make the rankings.

Captain Zhou says, "I'm so proud of my team. Everyone fought hard and put their 110 percent effort out on the strip. We came together for an exciting win against Penn. Although we had a lot of 5-4 losses this tournament, I'm so proud of my team for staying positive and supportive."
