Hirsch, Petrova Lead Bulldogs at Fencing NCAA Fencing Championships

COLUMBUS, Ohio -- The Yale women's fencing team competed in the first two days of the NCAA Fencing Championships on Thursday and Friday at Ohio State University. The Bulldogs sit in eighth place in the combined team event.

First year Kristina Petrova placed seventh in foil and earned All-American status as a result. Teammate Sydney Hirsch also became an All-American for placing eighth in saber. Hirsch improved upon her 12th-place finish at last year's national championships. 

Helen tan placed 16th in foil, while Amanda O'Donnell and Alexa Drovetsky placed 19th and 24th respectively in epee.

The Yale men's team will be in action beginning on Saturday with preliminary rounds. Semifinals and finals are set for Sunday.
