The Bulldogs have hosted playoff hockey every season since 2007-08, Keith Allain's second year as Malcolm G. Chace Head Coach of Hockey. This weekend, for the first time ever, Union comes to Ingalls Rink for an ECAC Hockey best-of-three playoff series that features the national champions of 2013 and 2014. No. 7 seed Yale and No. 10 Union begin Friday at 7 p.m. on ESPN+ and on Stretch Internet (international). Saturday's game two is also a 7 p.m. puck drop, but Sunday's contest (if played) is a 4 p.m. faceoff. The winner of this series earns a trip to one of the top four seeds for next week's quarterfinals.

BULLDOGS
Yale (13-14-2, 10-10-2 ECAC) has won two of its last three heading into the post season, coming off a weekend road split. The Elis have been led by the line of sophomores Justin Pearson and Curtis Hall and junior Tyler Welsh, who have been responsible for 37 of the team's 71 goals. Pearson and Hall are third and fourth, respectively, in goals per game in conference play, while Hall is eighth in the ECAC with 1.05 points. Corbin Kaczperski, Yale's senior goalie, ranks eighth in the ECAC with a 2.75 goals against in conference play.

UNION
The Dutchmen (7-23-4, 5-15-2), who are on a three-game skid, were swept last weekend at Dartmouth and Harvard. Senior forward Anthony Rinaldi leads the team with eight goals, 18 assists and 26 points, while junior goalie Darion Hanson has the majority of work and brings a 2.90 goals against and a .905 save percentage to New Haven.

SERIES
Yale has a 27-26-5 edge in the series since the first game in 1991-92, the year the Dutchmen replaced Army in ECAC Hockey. That includes a pair of Bulldog wins this season.

IN POST SEASON
Yale and Union first met in the post season during the 2005-06 ECAC Playoffs. It was a best-of-three series at Schenectady and the Elis won the first game 2-1 in OT. The second game went to five OTs before Yale came away with the 3-2 win and a series sweep. The only other meeting was the 2013 ECAC semifinal at Atlantic City, a 5-0 Union victory.

THIS SEASON
The Bulldogs won 2-0 at Schenectady before the new year and 5-0 at New Haven in 2020. Union had a 26-23 edge in shots at home, while Yale had the advantage (32-21) at home. Kaczperski earned the shutouts in both games with a combined 47 saves.
