MORGANTOWN, W. Va. –
Christian DeVol is headed to the NCAA Swimming and Diving Championship. DeVol finished fifth with a score of 688.85 in the 3-meter diving on the first day of NCAA Zone A Championships at West Virginia.
DeVol was the Ivy League champion in both the 1 and 3-meter diving events. In addition, he captured the Karl B. Michael High Point Diver of the Meet at the Ivy League Championships with the maximum 64 points.
The top five finishers at the Zone Meet advance to the NCAA's.
DeVol will be joined by the 200 freestyle relay team of
Henry Gaissert,
Philippe Marcoux, Joseph Page and
Michael Blank, who qualified over the weekend at the Princeton Last Chance meet.
DeVol also is attempting to qualify off the 1-meter board.
Jean Paul Ditto and
Owen Stevens also competed for the Bulldogs. Stevens scored 269.20 and Ditto scored 257.85 in the preliminaries.
The NCAA Championship is set for Mar. 22-25 in Indianapolis.
