NEW HAVEN, Conn. - The College Swimming and Diving Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) has selected its All-American teams for the 2019-20 season, and five Bulldogs were honored – diver
Christian DeVol and the 200 freestyle relay team of
Michael Blank, Henry Gaissert, Philippe Marcoux and
Joseph Page.
DeVol enjoyed a remarkable junior season. He won the 1-meter event at HYP before capturing both the 1 and 3-meter events at the Ivy League Championships. In the 1-meter, he broke his own school record. In addition, he was the recipient of the Karl B. Michael High Point Diver of the Meet Award at the Ivy Championships.
At the NCAA Zone A Championship, DeVol placed fifth on both boards which qualified him to the NCAA Championship for both events. He was the first Yale diver to qualify for NCAA's since 2014.
The 200 freestyle relay team was dominant throughout the year as well. The four finished first against a very talented field at the Ohio State Invitational on Nov. 21, posting a school record time of 1:17.96. They later captured the HYP title and then went on win the Ivy League Championship, rallying to edge Columbia. It was first time since 1992 that Yale won the Ivy 200 free relay title.
In their final event of the season, the Princeton Last Chance Meet, the four broke the school record (1:17.17) they had set at Ohio State and qualified for the NCAA Championship.
