Yale Men’s Hockey to Add Seven Newcomers

Five Forwards, One Defenseman and a Goalie

NEW HAVEN, Conn. – The Yale Men's Hockey Team announced its newcomers for the 2020-21 season. The seven members of the class of 2024 include five forwards, one defenseman and a goalie.
 
The Bulldogs add three first-year skaters each from the Alberta Junior Hockey League and the National Collegiate Development Conference and a goalie from the United States Hockey League. Six of the seven are Americans with one from Canada, while as a group they average six feet and 181 pounds.
 
"We are very excited about this class! They each bring a different set of skills to the table and will play different roles, however they are all relentless competitors. Their compete level is what we will be counting on to take our team to the next level," said Keith Allain '80, Yale's Malcolm G. Chace Head Coach of Hockey.

Junior Bruins: Played two years for the Junior Bruins under Coach Anderson… Won the Dineen Cup in 2018-19… Tallied 45 points in almost two full seasons.
 
The Taft School: Played two years for the Watertown, Conn., school in the NEPSAC… Honors student… Founders League Champion his junior year… Skated in 44 games and had 26 points.
 
Personal: Son of Keith '80 and Mi…  Has two older sisters, Josefine and Julia, both former college soccer players... Interested in Economics… Prior to attending Taft, he was a first-team all-state lacrosse player at North Branford High School.

Midget Hockey (U16-U18) Junior Bruins: Played for coach Topher Bevis for U16 and notched 20 goals and 40 points in 28 contests… Lost in semifinals of playoffs… Named U16 all-star… Played for U18 under coach Blake Bellefeuille from 2017-19… Had 12 goals and 34 points in 19 games… Led league in points and assists and was named U18 all-star. 
 
Personal: Pronounced CAR-pen-TEER… Son of Yannick and Genevieve… Oldest of three children… Two younger sisters, Kassandra and Sasha… Interested in medicine.

Bonnyville Pontiacs/Brooks Bandits: Played in 53 games combined for both AJHL teams in 2019-20… Scored 10 goals and had 25 points... Assisted on three goals in six playoff games.
 
Loomis Chaffee: Played three seasons of varsity hockey… Skated in 75 games... Recipient of the Joe Birarelli Scholarship (competitiveness and coachability), and the Grubbs Prize (Awarded to a member of the Senior Class for outstanding leadership and dedication in school and athletics) ... Captain senior season... Large New England Prep School quarterfinalist junior year
 
Personal: Sean Reilly Connors is the son of Sean and Maria Connors... Three siblings: Morgan, Padraic and Maeve… Played for Yale Jr. Bulldogs U18 - USA Hockey New England Champions and National Semifinalist... Resident assistant, prefect, and tour guide at Loomis... Played varsity golf at Loomis for two seasons and served as captain senior year... Received Coaches Award in golf… Attended Daniel Hand High School in Madison, Conn.

Fort McMurray Oil Barons: Skated from 2017 to 2019… Rookie season selected for the North Rookie All-Star team at age 16… Second season named assistant captain… Captained Team AJHL at the JCWC tournament in Sochi, Russia, summer before third season… Silver medal at JCWC tournament…  Captained team third season until being traded to Spruce Grove.
 
Personal: Mom, Connie, and brother, Michael, are his two biggest supporters… Shook hands of both Vladimir Putin and Rene Fasel during the opening ceremony of the JCWC… AJHL team received a private tour of the Kremlin in Moscow… Learned to skate on second birthday… At 12-years-old began working as an instructor at hockey schools and has taught every summer… Has a passion to educate younger hockey players.

At Fairbanks Ice Dogs: Played in 32 games and recorded a 17-12-3 record in 2018-19… Notched a 2.37 GAA and a .907 save percentage. 
 
At Victory Honda U18: Played in 54 games in 2017-18… Recorded a 33-17-3 record… 2.35 GAA and a .914 save percentage. 
Personal: Three varsity letters in lacrosse at Sun Prairie High School… Made the 2015 and 2016 U.S. Hockey National Player Development Camp… Lived in Michigan, Alaska and South Dakota the last three years.
