NEW HAVEN, Conn. -- Nine members of the Yale gymnastics team have been named Scholastic All-Americans for 2019-20. The Women's Collegiate Gymnastics Association announced the awards Aug. 11.
In order to qualify for the WCGA Scholastic All-American Award, student-athletes must have a GPA of 3.5 or higher for the academic school year.Â

As a team, Yale had a cumulative GPA of 3.5116 for the 2019-20 academic year. The Bulldogs have improved their GPA steadily in recent years, rising from 3.4105 in 2017-18 (six gymnasts 3.5 or better) to 3.4605 in 2018-19 (10 gymnasts 3.5 or better).Â
"We are extremely proud of our team's academic success shown in the Women's Collegiate Gymnastics Association Scholastic All-American Awards," said assistant coach Andy Leis. "Our student-athletes' commitment to the classroom really showed this year with our team achieving an overall GPA above a 3.5. We faced many challenges this year, especially with COVID-19, but our team stayed focused and committed, and continued the academic excellence expected at Yale University."
In addition to the WCGA honors, the Bulldogs also had 13 ECAC All-Academic honorees this season and earned the NCAA's Public Recognition Award for academics.
