NEW HAVEN, Conn. – The Yale Women's Soccer Team looks for its second Ivy League win this fall when it travels to Philadelphia to play Penn on Saturday. The 4 p.m. game at Rhodes Field airs live on ESPN+.
Yale forward
Emily Yin has fond memories of the last meeting. She scored at 72:37 to give the Elis a 1-0 win over the Quakers when the two last met, two years ago at Philadelphia.
BULLDOGS
Rebeka Róth had the goal at 79:11 last Saturday and
Marisa Shorrock earned her first win in the Yale net as the Bulldogs notched their first Ivy League victory of the 2021 season, a 1-0 decision over Cornell at Reese Stadium.
Roth became the eighth Eli to hit the net this season and one of four first-years to score. In fact, six of the eight goal scorers are underclass players. A pair of first-years,
Ellie Rappole and
Alanna Butcher, lead the team with two each.
Shorrock, a sophomore who walked on to the team after the season started, stopped five Big Red shots.
PENN
The Quakers, who are 8-0 at home, bring a 8-3-2 record into Saturday's game after notching a 4-0 win over Delaware State on Monday. Penn, 2-2 in Ivy play, is also coming off a 3-1 win over Dartmouth on Oct. 16 at home.
Mia Shenk leads the team with five goals while she and Lauren Teuschl each have a team-high 13 points. Laurence Gladu has played all but one half in the Quaker net and owns a 1.00 goals against and an .822 save percentage
